suite of products delivers unprecedented
point-to-point performance by utilizing standard networking infrastructure. The Catapult
protocol
addresses the shortcomings of common network protocols and bridges the gap between local and wide area
transfers which extends to film scanning and remote review of uncompressed frame sequences.
WAN transfers with Encryption
Catapult
® Server's highly efficient protocol supports wide area networks (WAN).
High latency (200ms+) WAN throughput is maximised for low bandwidth (<1
Megabit) through to high bandwidth networks (10 Gigabit).
Bandwidth management
provides precise on-the-fly control of WAN utilisation, allowing for dynamic
adjustment of in-progress transfers. 256-bit AES encryption is provided for data
traversing untrusted networks, for both file transfers and frame review.
Lossless WAN transit compression
As an extension to the WAN support in Catapult
® Server, customers are now able to use their dedicated
high-speed networks to transfer uncompressed DPX frames at a virtual speed of up to 2x for lossless
and 10x for visually lossless (DCI Quality), without increasing their bandwidth through their provider.
In addition to DPX frames, matching JPEG2000 frames can be written on both sending and receiving sides.
Turn your existing shared or local storage into Catapult-enabled storage
Catapult
® Server is ideal for environments with existing SAN and local attached
storage infrastructure. High speed storage can be shared easily over LAN at SAN
speeds. Disconnected local storage arrays become more accessible, and SAN
quality access expanded without additional SAN licenses. Catapult
® Server's predictable
stream access characteristics make for SAN friendly loads, with large, in order,
read and write sizes. These features present unique pipeline performance
improvements in the areas of frame sequence migration, frame quality assurance
and frame acquisition.
Scan 2K and 4K over Gigabit Ethernet
Catapult
® Server fully supports Arri's film scanners. Transparent integration
with ARRISCAN host servers provides a one step, full speed, scan and transfer to
any Catapult
® Server. Frames are optimally stored on disk arrays, ready for
immediate real-time streaming. No more waiting for scans to complete and
transfer to realtime capable storage. No more waiting for a compressed proxy
process (e.g. Quicktime, AVI). With Flipstream, uncompressed DPX files may be
reviewed immediately over inexpensive copper infrastructure.

Secure and powerful alternative to in-house FTP servers
Dart is a web-based transfer client for Catapult
® Server.
It provides administrators a simple but powerful web-driven user management interface via Control
and gives their clients a matching "look and feel" of their corporate website.
In conjunction with Ballista, Dart offers a secure low cost solution for replacing difficult to
manage in-house ftp servers.
Ideal for solutions that do not require higher priviledges to install plug-ins or native client
applications, Dart is entirely based around easy access via 'https'.
Simply style Dart to match the 'look and feel' of your corporate website and link it from your home page.
Using Catapult® Control customers can easily set up new users, lock them to their private directory,
set individual upload and download bandwidth limits and monitor current transfers.
Administrator are able to email access and account details to their clients directly from the Control
interface when setting up new account.
Comprehensive transfer reports for each user are also provided for monitoring and billing purposes.
| Features |
- Ideal for replacing in-house ftp servers
- Per user bandwidth shaping
- Email notification of access details
- Image preview with meta data display
- Secure https and SSL connections
- Easy access via port 80 or 443
- Customizable front-end to match customer’s home page
- Comprehensive per user transfer report for billing purposes
- Rich user interface with intuitive controls

Catapult® accelerated uncompressed digital film frame review.
Flipstream is an uncompressed frame review application utilising Catapult
® Server Technology.
It is easily capable of streaming 4K resolution, 10-bit uncompressed frames directly from
Catapult® 4K.
Typically, for uncompressed real time review, a studio relies on either a shared SAN connected review system
or copying the relevant frames to the local storage array on a dedicated review system.
The first method requires a powerful, concurrent I/O SAN or DAS, the latter a lengthy data transfer.
Neither is cost effective in terms of both time and money.
Flipstream eliminates uncompressed frame duplication to a dedicated high end
review station and instead allows any user with a standard workstation1 to stream frames directly from any Catapult® system.
|
Features
|
- Windows, Linux and Mac support.
- Multiple uncompressed formats: cineon, dpx, tga and tiff.
- Multiple bit depths: 8, 10, 12, 16.
- Real time 1D and 3D LUT support.
- Common infrastructure: up to 6 simultaneous Gigabit interfaces.
- High performance RDMA fabric support: 10 Gigabit Ethernet and InfiniBand.
- Review HD (1080p) or 2K (16:9) uncompressed frames over 2 x Gigabit Ethernet ports to any standard workstation1 from any
Catapult® system.
