Catapult breaks 1.1GB/s LAN speed barrier with Chelsio 10GbE
Melbourne, Australia – October 12, 2009 – XDT, developers of advanced software-based solutions for digital film, today announced that it has exceeded 1.1 Gigabytes per second sustained transfer rates utilising the Catapult protocol over Chelsio 10Gb Ethernet adapters.
"Achieving sustained transfer rates beyond 1000Megabytes per second has previously only been possible over Infiniband. With 10GbE becoming the new standard for copper interconnects, we needed to find a board that can keep up with Catapult's unique point-to-point performance", says Erik Otto, Managing Director at XDT. "Transferring 150,000 uncompressed DPX frames (ca. 1.7 Terrabytes), which is representative of a full length feature film, is now possible in under 25 minutes.
